Program Overview

Our Advancement & Endorsement Programs (AEP) are designed for commercial drivers seeking to advance their skills, refresh core competencies, or obtain required CDL endorsements — including Hazardous Materials (HazMat). These programs offer flexible training options and hands-on instruction to help drivers confidently prepare for exams, inspections, and real-world operations.

Students may select one or more focus areas based on individual needs:

  • Backing Techniques
  • Coupling & Uncoupling
  • Hazardous Materials (HazMat)
  • Pre-Trip Inspection / In-Cab Inspection
  • Tanker / HazMat
  • Shifting & Automatic Transmission
  • Road Driving Review (Driver Evaluation)

Occupational Objective

The objective of the AEP program is to:

  • Advance driver techniques and overall skillset
  • Prepare students to identify, understand, and master their selected subject area
  • Support successful completion of required knowledge exams, inspections, and endorsements
  • Provide a detailed, in-depth understanding of each area of study through practical application

Program Length Options

Students may choose the training duration that best fits their goals:

  • ½ Day Program (4 Hours)
  • 1 Day Program (8 Hours)
  • 2 Day Program (16 Hours)

Additional make-up hours may be required if program completion standards are not met.

Hazardous Materials (HazMat) Endorsement Program

Course Description

This course is designed for individuals who are required to obtain or maintain a Hazardous Materials (HazMat) endorsement on their Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

Method of Instruction

Instruction focuses on state and federal regulations governing the handling and transportation of hazardous materials. Training is delivered through a combination of:

  • Classroom instruction
  • Lab activities
  • Range demonstrations

Course Objectives

Upon completion of the HazMat Endorsement program, students will be able to:

  • Successfully complete program quizzes and sit for the final exam
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of safe handling and hauling of hazardous materials
  • Understand applicable state and federal hazardous materials regulations

Students will also gain the ability to:

  • Identify and understand the classes and divisions of hazardous materials
  • Apply proper rules and procedures for handling and transporting HazMat
  • Respond safely to incidents or spills, including correct use of the Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG)
  • Understand driver and carrier responsibilities related to hazardous materials
  • Properly read and manage shipping papers involving hazardous materials
  • Understand the environmental impact of vehicles and cargo, including regulations aimed at reducing fuel consumption, equipment emissions, and freight pollution
