Our Class B CDL Driver Training Program is an entry-level course open to all students, with or without prior knowledge or experience operating commercial vehicles. This program is designed to prepare students for real-world driving through a hands-on training approach that emphasizes skill development, safety, and confidence.
From day one, students begin driving a truck. We do not believe in spending the first week sitting in a classroom or behind a computer screen. Instead, our training focuses on active, practical experience. Throughout the program, students have the opportunity to operate a variety of truck makes and models, including Kenworth, Peterbilt, Volvo, and International. Exposure to multiple vehicle types is a key part of building a strong foundation for long-term success in the industry.
The Class B CDL program is a 40-hour course completed over 5 days. Students may choose to attend Monday through Friday or Thursday through Tuesday (with Sunday off). If a student needs an extra day of training, no problem—we never charge more for additional time. Our curriculum covers essential topics such as basic vehicle operations, safe operating practices, coupling and uncoupling trailers, maintenance procedures, and non-vehicle activities including emergency procedures. Students are thoroughly trained in pre-trip and post-trip inspections, in-cab inspections, and external light inspection and operation.
Once students become proficient with the truck, we introduce real-world driving experiences. Training includes driving on side roads, navigating fuel stations, and operating through truck stops to better prepare students for everyday driving situations they will encounter on the job.
Our program has been developed and refined over many years to exceed basic industry standards. Students who successfully complete the course will gain the fundamental knowledge and safe, practical skills necessary for employment as entry-level commercial drivers. The program prepares students to take the CDL Skills Test and obtain a Class B Commercial Driver’s License.
While we follow a structured curriculum, it serves only as a guide. Instruction is tailored to each student’s ability, and progression occurs when the student is ready—there is never pressure to move faster than their comfort level. Training includes classroom instruction, lab work, range practice, and roadway driving, all supported by professional instructional staff. Our daytime programs are mirrored after the Professional Truck Driving Institute (PTDI) standards, with students attending 8 hours per day for a total of 40 hours.
To graduate, students must complete all required competencies within the program. Additional weeks of instruction are available at an additional cost for students who need extra assistance.
Our courses also reflect the everyday professional interactions drivers experience, including communication with dispatchers, fellow drivers, shippers, mechanics, the general public, and law enforcement personnel. All FMCSA-required entry-level driver training materials are thoroughly covered.
Upon graduation, when students apply for employment, carriers are required by the FMCSA to contact the school where training was completed for verification and transcripts. We provide detailed documentation that includes the types of equipment operated during training. Because students gain experience with various vehicle types, this verification often strengthens employment opportunities.
To qualify for entry into the Class B CDL Driver Training Program, students must meet all FMCSA requirements, including but not limited to:
- Valid driver’s license
- Valid CDL permit
- Minimum age of 18
- Passing a DOT physical examination
- Passing a DOT drug test
- Meeting all FMCSR (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations) requirements
Students pursuing a Class B driving career should possess good dexterity, patience, self-discipline, maturity, and a good driving record. The ability to manage family, social, and company responsibilities unique to the driving profession is also important for success.
